“My Ex hasn’t paid child support in five years. What can I do? I’ve tried going through the OAG, but they are worthless. I have yet to see a dime.” This quote is one that is like Groundhog’s Day in my years as an attorney and in life in general. I just read a feed on a Facebook site that I follow, and I saw almost 100 parents of children reply to a mother who was expressing her concerns over not receiving child support from her Ex and had exhausted her efforts with the OAG. Each response rang to the same tune, all having very similar stories about not being able to collect their support. Obtaining back child support is frustrating and difficult, but I decided to figure out how I might be able to help parents collect their support and enforce it. I’ve also learned that very few attorneys want to touch this area of the legal system, and I’ve learned why. It’s not fun, it’s not easy, and there’s no guarantee. However, no risk, no reward. I will say that I have successfully collected back child support for many clients, but it’s a process and not instantaneous.
